SRDS-L1
Punch Your Ticket to High Power Rocketry
Welcome to the Sounding Rocket Design School (SRDS). High power rocketry is divided into three levels. Here, you will learn the theory and practice of Level 1 high power rocket design, construction, and operation.
Taught in 8 blocks, or "Modules", separated into theory and hands-on practice.
All modules will be available by the end of April.
First Module will go live Sunday, February 15th at Midnight.
Silly Assumptions We Have Made About You:
You want to learn how to design, build and fly high power rockets. Who wouldn't?
You have model (aka "low power") rocket experience. If not, NARTREK - a program we also provide mentorship for - is an excellent place to start.
You have access to the internet (otherwise how would you be reading this now!) and a place to work. We can provide guidance on tool and space requirements.
There is a NAR or Tripoli launch site in your area. If you are in the tri-state area, that is likely going to be METRA Rocket Club or CATO Rocket Club. Otherwise, use the NAR's and Tripoli's Club Finder page on their website.
Silly Assumptions We Have NOT Made About You:
We have not assumed that:
You have any background in STEM. Rocketry is a skill to be learned and practiced. No engineering degree is required, though you should be open to learning things outside your comfort zone (as physics is for most people!).
You are a CCNY undergraduate. The HLA is a public section, open to high school and college age students throughout the tri-state area.
You are in the tri-state area. SRDS-L1 is offered asynchronously and is mostly in the form of a guided reading list. We can offer mentorship remotely. See Contact Us to reach out.
